Good News for Hillary!

Feeling hog-tied and gerrymandered? Good news!

From Alabama (yes, Alabama!) news service:

Hillary Clinton has made her presidential plans official and as it turns out, she may have reason to smile.

A recent Pew Research poll shows more people in the U.S. call themselves Democrats than Republicans. Overall, 48 percent of those polled said they consider themselves Democrats as opposed to 39 percent who said they are Republican.

And while President Obama has faced poor approval ratings, those feelings apparently don't translate to the general electorate. The 10-point Democratic advantage is about the same as in 2012 when Obama defeated Mitt Romney to win a second term.

In Massachusetts many Indies are Democrats, too.

This is exactly why GOTV has always been so important for Democrats.

Watch out, though. ACORN is gone, but many religious right groups are out there registering voters that seem to them to be Republicans and "educating" them.

Those are the not for profits we heard about when they alleged the IRS was hassling them because of the names of their organizations. One of the things I heard during the hearings is that they have national conference calls with each other every Sunday night to share info, encourage each other, etc. Don't ask me how they even knew each other existed, let alone raised the money for national conference calls. It's organized and funded.

Democrats really need on voter registration in some organized fashion.

I love standing on line with my neighbors. I love getting closer and closer to the ballots. I love them looking for my name in a big book.

I've said, and I mean, that I would vote in a primary for official city hall exterminator, if anyone held one.

I clicked on this from Latest Threads, though. I did not realize I had entered a group. Sorry!

We'll let anyone in!

Sometimes primaries is the only vote we get that counts in a substantial way. That's life in the South. But it is always great to be on the winning side, and the right side of history!

As far as Presidentials, Massachusetts went for war hero Ike twice, then Reagan once or twice. Other than that, our electoral votes have been going for the Democratic nominee for a long time.

Apparently, campaigns actually drill down to anywhere from 8 to 100 purple counties, not purple states, that will swing the election.

I heard Brian Williams say 8 when he was on the Daily Show, but I googled and got different numbers. Maybe it depends on which article you read. But I never saw a number over 100.

Just think about the billions in hard and soft money that will get spent by two people in 2016 and then think it matters only in 5 to 100 counties.

IT'S NUTS!
