Public transportation at a standstill in Venezuela. Unions on their own to solve nationwide problem
CARRIERS ARE IN TECHNICAL STOPPAGE
APRIL 25, 2018
Estefany Figueroa | THE PRESS.- The Motor Union of the State of Lara yesterday held a meeting with all its executives, because the technical strike that they have been carrying out for weeks is still standing and without solutions.
"Already the fare of the passage is not the problem. The cost of the ticket is far below the cost structure and still we continue on the street, "said Venancio Molina, Sindicato spokesman.Molina notes that they already finance the tickets for seniors and students and to cover some needs they require the help of the government, state or national.
This is not the first meeting that the automotive union carries out so far this year, since they have been demanding months of passage increase and a help from the governmental entities, who are responsible for the crisis in the sector. The members of this organization asked for support from all the users as well, since they are the most affected by the faults in the urban and extra-urban routes.
The problem of public transport is not only in the Lara state. Much of the national territory is also found with a high percentage of its fleet stopped for lack of spare parts.
At that meeting it was agreed to elect a union representative to participate in a new meeting in the city of Caracas next week, where all the members of the unions will agree on what measures they will implement to solve this crisis and hope that this time they will be heard by the national Executive and finally be given the priority that merits the transport sector throughout the national territory.
