Jorge Martin (In Defense of Marxism) has the answers to Venezuelas problems!

Venezuela after the Constituent Assembly elections, conciliation or revolution?
Jorge Martin 02 August 2017

-snip-

"The Constituent Assembly would only make sense if it was to be used in order to take decisive action to solve the current crisis, which has its roots in the deep economic recession. Only with a clear revolutionary programme is it possible to go forward. Left wing Constituent Assembly members should propose the following measures:

For the Constituent Assembly to assume all powers
For the state monopoly of foreign trade
Repudiation of the foreign debt so that the money can be use to import food and other essential products
Expropriate POLAR and the whole of the food production and distribution chain under the democratic control of workers and peasants
For an immediate freeze of prices and general increase of wages
Expropriation of private banks and multinationals
For a democratic plan of production to satisfy the needs of the working people
The arrest of those responsible for the counter-revolutionary violence, opposition politicians and their financiers in the capitalist class to be tried by revolutionary tribunals
The arrest of all officials involved in corruption and the confiscation of ill gotten assets
The introduction of workers’ control in all state owned companies and institutions to fight bureaucratism"

-snip-

What could possibly go wrong by disregarding everyone civil rights?

And the Venz govt has already shown how successful they are at running businesses into the ground.
And price controls (which they already have) during 800% inflation is a sure way to make sure there are no products for sale.

First, Venezuela doesn't live in a vacuum. If Maduro decides to blow off his debt, he won't be able to buy for to import.

Secondly, every single company Chavismo has nationalized is in shambles. Even PSVDA (where 95% of their cash comes from) is ready to go Tango Uniform because it can't pump out its sludge-like oil without US diluents and tech. Not a single entity is making money, even the mining companies Chavez nationalized. And those factories Maduro recently seized and "gave to the workers"? They have been stripped of anything of value and they produce NOTHING. Bridgestone. GM. Kimberly Clark. NOTHING.

I wonder what would happen to POLAR if Maduro decided to nationalize the last large private company in Venezuela? The money that POLAR makes is from food stuffs it sells outside of Venezuela. That is how POLAR can afford to buy the ingredients it can't get in Venezuela.

Martin is just another example of an academic dreaming about how he would run "his Utopia"... if were in FantasyLand.
