THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Cuba has evinced keen interest in collaborating with Kerala in medicine, sports and tourism, the state government said on Monday.

Cuban ambassador to India Oscar Israel Martinez Cordoves expressed his nation’s interest during a meeting with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in New Delhi on Sunday.

The government is exploring the possibility of getting doctors from the state trained in Cuba, a country known for its healthcare system and medical education, the Chief Minister said.

The possibility of sending sports coaches for training in Cuba was also discussed at the meeting. Kerala is also eyeing the huge market for spices in Cuba, especially pepper and cardamom, the government said.
