Migrants' Deaths Reported in Arizona Prison
Washington, Dec 1 (Prensa Latina) A female Guatemalan migrant died in a hospital nearby a jail in Phoenix, Arizona, where many undocumented prisoners have been killed in recent months, civil rights defenders said.
According to the activists, the death of Raquel Calderon de Hidalgo, 36, is another example of the mistreatment suffered by foreigners who enter the country without authorization.
Calderon died in a hospital nearby the Eloy Detention Center, one of the detention centers that more undocumented migrants receive from across the country. There are currently more than 1,470 individuals in this detention facility.
Officials from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reported that Calderon's death occurred on Sunday. This is the third death related to detention centers of that agency since October 1st.
