Criminals'' Weapons in Venezuela Come from US

Criminals'' Weapons in Venezuela Come from US

Caracas, Jul 11 (Prensa Latina) The AR-15 assault rifles in the hands of criminal gangs in Venezuela come illegally from the United States, denounced Venezuelan lawmaker Freddy Bernal in statements published on the National Assembly website on Saturday.
The member of the Parliament's Internal Policy Committee denied that those weapons were provided by the State's security bodies.

AR-15s are not rifles used by any Venezuelan security agency, as some right wing's malicious voices insist on saying, said Bernal.

Those guns specifically come from the United States and are smuggled into the country with the only purpose of causing a sentiment of unease in society by increasing the fire power of organized crime, stressed the deputy.

Bernal also called for intensifying sanctions for serious crimes, such as robbery and aggravate homicide, kidnapping, extortion and rape, whose current sanctions he considers are mild.

Surely they have to have some inkling of where their excess products are going.

From the 1980's. How many neighboring countries were sold AR15s by the U.S.?
