Paraguayan Organisations Reveal Official Maneuvers To Neutralise Protests

Paraguayan Organisations Reveal Official Maneuvers To Neutralise Protests
Bernama? - 2 hours ago

ASUNCION, July 6 (BERNAMA-NNN-PRENSA LATINA) -- The Paraguayan government accused Venezuela and other countries to create the increasing opposition to the impeachment of Constitutional President Fernando Lugo, political and social organizations here. They said that top officials and Parliament members involved in the political trial against Lugo continued attacking Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro, alleging that he asked for the Paraguayan armed forces heads to rebel against the coup d'Etat.

The screening of a video taken by the Government Palace cameras and used as accusatory evidence was a weak element, because it hardly shows how the foreign ministers of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) negotiate to avoid an institutional breakdown in a member country, they stressed.

Given the weakness of the evidence, they said, the government admitted the video is now in a special laboratory, which aroused suspicions of manipulation.

Defense Minister Maria Lyz Garcia said in a television appearance that the video is in the hands of the laboratory technicians, saying that there was no conclusive evidence of Maduro requesting the soldiers to stage a mutiny.
