What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Bernie on "Meet the Press" today:

CHUCK TODD:

All right, you brought up the whole issue with getting money and the speeches to Wall Street. Would you be on higher ground if you released, you have released less about your taxes and tax returns than any other candidate running for president other than Donald Trump. Where are your tax returns, and wouldn't that put you on a higher ground in calling for Hillary Clinton to say, "Release these speech transcripts"?

SEN. BERNIE SANDERS:

We are going to release, I think we've talked about it before. Actually, my wife works on our taxes, we've been busy. We are going to get all of our taxes out. Trust me, there is nothing that is going to surprise anybody.

CHUCK TODD:

Are you going to do seven, ten, 15-years' worth of tax returns? So far you've done one.

After a strange pregnant pause, Bernie seemed to again channel platitudes.

SEN. BERNIE SANDERS:

We will do the best that we can. But yeah, we will get our tax returns out. Look, the issue facing this country, Chuck, and why our campaign is doing well, is the American people are tired of establishment politics in which the wealthiest people become much richer. And I would hope that we can focus on those important issues.

CHUCK TODD:

I understand that. I will leave it there. I know we're going to hear from you a lot in the next ten days. Senator Sanders, thanks for coming on the show.

SEN. BERNIE SANDERS:

My pleasure.

Now I'm wondering how the wealthy Sanders family may have become richer over his establishment political career?

Goose/gander, baby!

What kind of guy in his position, running for PRESIDENT of the United States, has his income tax return done by his wife? C'mon Bernie, at least bring your receipts to H&R Block to have them done.

I'm a busy person. I have a lot on my plate, including raising nearly 1,000 plants for the gardens this year in the cellar (yes, it's a mess).

My taxes are done--and they are not simple. As of this weekend, if I were a candidate, I could have handed you the last ten years of taxes with about fifteen minutes of work (and access to a photocopier as I won't be giving you the originals, of course).

I do our taxes myself. It's a little time consuming, but not that difficult.

you have not yet done 2015's taxes, you could still pick up the other five or six years and give them to Chuck Toad, yes?

Thought so. But somehow, Sanders cannot direct a family member to go get them?

That's why I leave the cellar window uncovered right above the plants. Although the local Sheriff, AKA Steve, has mentioned that they know damned well I have them and know damned well that I also have 2,000 square feet of packed and gorgeous flower gardens from late spring to full freeze. The logic is obvious and I'm in no danger of a raid--and by no means unique in shelf-raising all my plants.

going through many years of tax returns to insure that nothing in them will be embarrassing would take a great deal of time, unless of course, on has absolutely noting to hide.

For me, not a problem. For Sanders maybe not so much. Not only does he have to worry about tax deductions which, while legal, might raise eyebrows and also any indications that he is not one of the wealthy people he rails against.

I decided that Sanders just might get political talking points from GD-P, except he doesn't compare himself to Jesus. Or claim to hang out with the Pope. Shit he says about Hillary could be lifted directly.

And through it all, I'm thinking, "Stop trying to be some sort of spokesperson for the "American People"---you are losing both the delagate AND the popular vote. The "American People" are making a different choice. Deal with it.
