Ratf*cking Has Consequences: A Note on the Nevada Caucuses

Allan Brauer February 19, 2016

This is just a quick post to lay down a marker before Nevada Democrats caucus on February 20th.

My social media feeds have been flooded this week with anecdotal evidence from Nevadans about a variety of ratfucking techniques that are being deployed there. The term "ratfucking" gained currency after Woodward and Bernstein cited it in "All the President's Men" to describe dirty tricks intended to effect the outcome of elections. Nevada political reporter Jon Ralston has been sharing some of them via Twitter and his blog. Among the efforts that have been reported:

Registered Republicans report being called by Sanders volunteers encouraging them to vote in the Democratic caucuses.
Democrats report being given the wrong time for the caucuses, and it's usually given as 5 pm (they start at 11 am).
There are reports of people posing as Clinton volunteers knocking doors at 11 pm to annoy people against her campaign.
Sanders supporters created and shared a misleading video about the caucus process that they will not take offline even though the NV Democratic Party complains this will create disruption at caucus sites. The Sanders campaign deliberately blasted this video via email to his supporters even after being informed by the state party that it was deceptive.

Additionally, multiple sources have been sharing a quirk in the NV caucus that allows one to vote in both caucuses. The two parties hold caucuses on different days, and the Democrats go first.....................

Revolutions are brutal, single issue and undemocratic. Everyone outside the core group is demonized as "the other" and loses all power.

That's one of the reasons Sanders felt so safe in blowing off the twice asked question in the last town hall about having only one litmus test for a SC nominee. Women, LGBT and voting rights for minorities and others are not core to his civics free financial revolution. He may talk about them at his events, but as for actually pledging a court that would defend them? They are secondary, and when separated out from the tunnel vision of revolution, risk becoming "the other"

And Sanders himself allows it.
Whatever happened to "Mr. Integrity" and promising to run a clean campaign?

5. Why are Nevada College Republicans voting for Sanders in Nevada caucuses
Sat Feb 20, 2016, 09:37 AM
Feb 2016

The Nevada college republicans are going to cheat and vote in the Democratic caucuses for Sanders because he is the weakest possible Democratic nominee http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/nevada-republicans-eye-electoral-mischief-dem-caucuses

Ralston noted yesterday that “organized” Republican efforts to intervene in the Democratic contest are now underway. This includes College Republicans urging members to support the “socialist” in order to help the GOP candidate “prevail” in November, and coincided with work from a prominent conservative activist in Nevada encouraging Republicans to intervene with a similar message.

Here is the flyer that the Nevada college republicans are using to encourage Nevada college republicans to vote for the socialist

Again and again, it is clear that the GOP and their affiliates want Sanders to be the nominee because he is the weakest possible nominee

Miranda Hoover is asking her minions to commit a felony:

NRS?293.780??Voting more than once at same election.
1.??A person who is entitled to vote shall not vote or attempt to vote more than once at the same election. Any person who votes or attempts to vote twice at the same election is guilty of a category D felony and shall be punished as provided in NRS 193.130.

(a)?Printed on all sample ballots mailed;
(b)?Posted in boldface type at each polling place; and
(c)?Posted in boldface type at the office of the county or city clerk.
(Added to NRS by 1973, 403; A 1987, 356; 1997, 234)

NRS?193.130??Categories and punishment of felonies.
1.??Except when a person is convicted of a category A felony, and except as otherwise provided by specific statute, a person convicted of a felony shall be sentenced to a minimum term and a maximum term of imprisonment which must be within the limits prescribed by the applicable statute, unless the statute in force at the time of commission of the felony prescribed a different penalty. The minimum term of imprisonment that may be imposed must not exceed 40 percent of the maximum term imposed.
2.??Except as otherwise provided by specific statute, for each felony committed on or after July 1, 1995:
(a)?A category A felony is a felony for which a sentence of death or imprisonment in the state prison for life with or without the possibility of parole may be imposed, as provided by specific statute.
(b)?A category B felony is a felony for which the minimum term of imprisonment in the state prison that may be imposed is not less than 1 year and the maximum term of imprisonment that may be imposed is not more than 20 years, as provided by specific statute.
(c)?A category C felony is a felony for which a court shall sentence a convicted person to imprisonment in the state prison for a minimum term of not less than 1 year and a maximum term of not more than 5 years. In addition to any other penalty, the court may impose a fine of not more than $10,000, unless a greater fine is authorized or required by statute.
(d)?A category D felony is a felony for which a court shall sentence a convicted person to imprisonment in the state prison for a minimum term of not less than 1 year and a maximum term of not more than 4 years. In addition to any other penalty, the court may impose a fine of not more than $5,000, unless a greater fine is authorized or required by statute.
(e)?A category E felony is a felony for which a court shall sentence a convicted person to imprisonment in the state prison for a minimum term of not less than 1 year and a maximum term of not more than 4 years. Except as otherwise provided in paragraph (b) of subsection 1 of NRS 176A.100, upon sentencing a person who is found guilty of a category E felony, the court shall suspend the execution of the sentence and grant probation to the person upon such conditions as the court deems appropriate. Such conditions of probation may include, but are not limited to, requiring the person to serve a term of confinement of not more than 1 year in the county jail. In addition to any other penalty, the court may impose a fine of not more than $5,000, unless a greater penalty is authorized or required by statute.

Worse...once they get out of jail, their voting rights will be given back to them but they have to apply for, and possibly not receive, a pardon from the governor if they want to own guns.

Vote in the Democratic caucus. Support the weakest candidate.

Vote in the June Republican primary for your real choice in November.

Don't think people won't do it!

It smacks of Carl Rove-style tactics. The polls would give cover to today's results if they can get enough Republican college students and other Republicans in to steal Clinton's advantage. With the death of Scalia and everything at stake for Republicans--do not discount this very serious threat to the Clinton campaign.
Add to that the fact that Bernie and his campaign will gladly accept the help.
