It's miserable here in Sprout City, not that Düsseldorf is much better, and I have to be in Berlin all weekend.
As for Hillary winning, I still say it reminds me more of the Harvard-Yale game of 1968 than anything else ("Harvard wins 29-29!"
I'll bet Trump is wondering who pulled the rug out from under him, although the prospect of a gloating Cruz is about as palatable to me as reviving the House Un-American Activities Committee, and having Rolls-Ryan appoint Louie Gohmert to chair it.
My younger daughter spent two years of high school in Waimea on the Big Island, and her graduation, now 13 years ago, was the last time I was out there. Hawai'i is 12 time zones away for us--literally halfway around the world. But still: too long, too long.....................

(31,170 posts)DES MOINESIDP Chair Dr. Andy McGuire released the following statement on tonights 2016 Iowa Democratic Precinct Caucuses:
Tonight we saw an historically close Iowa Democratic Caucus that featured one of our strongest turnouts ever and passion and energy from Democrats all across our state.
After a year where Iowans took the time to see candidates, ask them thoughtful questions, and became volunteers and leaders themselves, tonight 171,109 Iowa Democrats came together with their neighbors to engage in a spirited discussion on the future of our country. We saw passionate, engaged Iowans turn out in all 99 counties, and for the first time ever, the IDP ran both a Tele-Caucus and satellite caucus locations, fulfilling our promise to expand participation and improve on an already incredible process.
The results tonight are the closest in Iowa Democratic caucus history. Hillary Clinton has been awarded 699.57 state delegate equivalents, Bernie Sanders has been awarded 695.49 state delegate equivalents, Martin OMalley has been awarded 7.68 state delegate equivalents and uncommitted has been awarded .46 state delegate equivalents. We still have outstanding results in one precinct (Des Moines42), which is worth 2.28 state delegate equivalents. We will report that final precinct when we have confirmed those results with the chair.
I want to congratulate all of our candidates for running terrific campaigns and thank them for taking the time to travel across our great state to share their visions for the country. In particular, I want to thank Governor Martin OMalley for the time he devoted to meeting with Iowans and for sharing his vision of continued progress all across our state. His distinguished record as a mayor and governor as well as his plans for continued progress inspired the people of our state, and I look forward to his continued service to the nation and our working families.
Finally, I want to thank the thousands of volunteers who helped run our precinct caucus locations all across the state. And most of all, I want to thank all of the Iowa Democrats who came out tonight to caucus and make their voice heard.

I'm not the same person I was in '08 - this time around I'm not giving up on our gal and by giving up meaning I am not going to keep quiet, which means on a Facebook page that I created for supporters of hers WILL NOT be taken over by the Bitter Bern Brigade.

(3,709 posts)I have to laugh at the Bernie Bots who are crying it's a tie... Bernie won, too. Last time I looked, my college basketball team gets a W if they win by one.... the loser.. well, they lose... not matter how well they play the game. Second place is the just the first loser.
Next week, I fear she may have more issues, being in Bernie's back yard but I have faith in Hillary... she'll do well....

(90,189 posts)So much wailing and gnashing of teeth about that -- but it is legal, it's written into the Iowa caucus rules, and it has lots of precedence in American history.
I was amazed when hubby walked in to tell me about that, and then I laughed, because that's how I won Granny's
cabinet, only with dice. It was part of my mother's estate and she got it from her mother, and there are four sibs. It's not a fancy antique, but it has a lot of family history.
Our brother in law introduced D&D rules to help us decide disputed items before they could become disputed.
But boy, was my youngest brother steamed. (Probably had something to do with me singing "Go Granny Go" while rattling the dice.) Twice we threw exactly the same. On the third round I won the toss.
What are the everloving odds? I never play games of chance.
Last night in Iowa, Luck was with the Lady.
Cha

(67 posts)"Except that doesn't tell the whole story. In fact, there were at least a dozen tiebreakers and "Sen. Sanders won at least a handful," an Iowa Democratic Party official told NPR.
Gone unmentioned so far is that even if Clinton won that Miracle Six and there were no other coin tosses it would make little difference in the outcome. That is, in part, because of the complicated way Iowa Democrats allocate their delegates and what was being reported on election night and what wasn't."
