"The stakes are so high."
The decision to back Clinton over two Democratic rivals with equally strong, if not stronger, liberal environmental records shows the extent to which some environmentalists are concerned the Obama administrations policies could be rolled back under a Republican president. The groups president, Gene Karpinski, said it needs to activate volunteers and donors early to make sure Clinton is strongly positioned for the general election.
The LCV Action Fund picked Clinton over Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vt.) and former Maryland governor Martin OMalley because the stakes are so high and Clinton has proved shes an effective leader who can stand up to the big polluters and push forward an aggressive plan to tackle climate change, Karpinski said.

(9,494 posts)I think we are going to see a lot of support coming in earlier than usual because the Pukes and their Clown Car are scaring the shit out of every sensible person!
I get that Bernie is supposed to be a Straw Dog but it's time to get together and support the actual candidate who will be running next November.

(16,104 posts)Friday night we had a big ol' Democratic Forum on MSNBC.
So far, this was the least watched debate this cycle - "2.3 Million Watch Democratic Forum on MSNBC."
Now - we watched it. At least, the second half.
The first hour, featuring O'Malley and Senator Sanders (I-VT) came in 2nd to Fox News Channel (Billo's time slot).
The second hour featuring Hillary Clinton had more viewers (2.44 million!) and "...came in first on cable news with 2.447 million, giving MSNBC its first win over FNC since 2014 and the largest win over CNN since 2011."
More debates? Or is it over already?
Endorsements coming fast and furious!

(16,104 posts)The Obama Administration's Clean Power Plan is a significant step forward in meeting the urgent threat of climate change. It sets a smart federal standard that gives states the flexibility to choose how to reduce carbon pollution most effectively. And it drives investments in clean energy and energy efficiency, reduces asthma attacks and premature deaths, and promotes a healthier environment and a stronger economy. It's a good plan, and as President, I'd defend it.
It will need defending. Because Republican doubters and defeatists including every Republican candidate for president won't offer any credible solution. The truth is, they don't want one. They just keep making the same tired arguments they've been making for years. They refuse to accept science. They refuse to believe in American ingenuity and entrepreneurship, even though we've seen time and time again that a clean environment and a strong economy go hand-in-hand.
Of course, the Clean Power Plan standards set the floor, not the ceiling. We can and must go further. As President, I will launch a Clean Energy Challenge to give states, cities and rural communities that are ready to lead the tools and resources to succeed. By combining the Clean Power Plan with my Clean Energy Challenge, well achieve two big goals:
We will have half of a billion installed solar panels by the end of my first term in office,
We will generate enough renewable energy to power every home in America within 10 years of my taking office.
As President, I will build on the work of this Administration and make America a clean energy superpower and a global leader in the fight against climate change. That's a promise.
