5. I love Carter

One of our best presidents. And post-presidency? A model to uphold. Don't understand how any Democrat could throw shade at him.

2. The relationship between Hillary and Carter isn't as frosty as the WP 2017 story implies, and here

is the big difference.

AFTER the primaries were over, and Hillary became the Democratic nominee, Jimmy Carter without hesitation endorsed, and voted for Hillary. He even solicited donations to her campaign after she became the nominee. Unfortunately, some so-called progressives did just the opposite, and undermined Hillary by encouraging others NOT to vote for her in the general election.

Jimmy Carter made a lot of major mistakes, even though I believe his heart was in the right direction. He deregulated the airline industry, cut off selling wheat to the Russians, and boycotted the Olympics, in which a lot of farmers, labor, and athletes were hurt by those actions, and effectively helped usher in the Reagan era.

The frosty relationship wasn't particularly between Carter and Hillary, but between Ted Kennedy and Jimmy Carter

3. But there was no love between Ted Kennedy and the Clintons

I think that Kennedy could never accept the fact that Bill was the first Democrat to be re-elected since FDR. Well, Johnson, but this was different.

And, it was clear to me that one reason why he actively recruited Obama in 2005 (not that Obama was not willing.. was to block Hillary.

I have always blamed Reagan for bringing religion into politics when, in 1980, these groups _ Ralph Reed? - actively campaigned for him. But, really, it was Carter who brought his Evangelicalism to the White House.
