(30,058 posts)with 15 former members of Congress also endorsing Hillary. These are members who have worked in Congress who has confidence in Hillary but not in Bernie. O'Malley has one endorsement from Congress, 31 Democratic Senate members out of 44, 87 Democratic Representative members out of 188, overwhelming support from Congress.

(32,342 posts)And the NEA. This is an interesting horse race from the perspective of a labor nerd. Sanders has kind of been catnip for the left wing of labor activists, some unions are endorsing him, some her. Usually things aren't quite so exciting!
I'm glad that IAMAW endorsed her, as I was starting to hear some grumping from my own organizational ties that it was just the ladyunions endorsing HRC, and of course it was predictable of us, etc. I'd like a few more industrial industries to do it, just to rub it in a little. I'm human.

(16,104 posts)Clinton has also spent time courting the Service Employees International Union, the 1.8 million member union unaffiliated with the AFL-CIO thats behind the Fight for $15 movement. She appeared by video at a Fight for $15 convention in Detroit in June, though she has since avoided endorsing a national $15 hour minimum wage.
Meanwhile, Clintons campaign has added to its ranks to personally appeal to labor. The campaign hired its own labor liaison in its early stages, bringing on Nikki Budzinski, a well-respected former organizer of the powerful United Food and Commercial Workers, a major Democratic donor and the labor group behind nationwide Wal-Mart protests.
Clinton campaign Chairman John Podesta hosted about two dozen labor leaders at his house in July. And the candidate has enlisted scores of labor economists and policy experts to craft proposals designed to meet the AFL-CIOs central demand for 2016: raising wages.

(32,342 posts)These women have insanely hard lives. One woman had to go back to work *3 days* after having a c-section birth. Lots of painful stories. I am very picky about politicians and how they are in interactions with union members. I genuinely felt HRC understood and was listening, and that the women in the room felt heard.
This is over an hour, but worth watching any bits of it, imo! https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=98&v=Mr6x3Z7dVSw
