...
Bernie Sanders was supposed to be above the usual pettiness of politics. So much for that.
In the past few of weeks, Sanders has gone from someone seemingly capable of walking on water to someone diving headfirst into the political muck. His campaign has engaged in one ego-stroking, victim-baiting, politically calculated act after another none of which serve the greater good of uniting the Democratic Party long enough to defeat Republican presumptive nominee Donald Trump.
...
Theres a real danger in Sanders casting himself, his campaign and, by extension, his legion of mostly white supporters as victims.
People who falsely believe they are victims get caught up in their victimhood. They lose track of who the real victims are and often end up fighting for themselves instead. Politics at its finest.
...
Anyone who is really a victim of a rigged system black people who get chewed up and spit out by the criminal justice system, women still fighting for equal pay wouldnt dare threaten to stay home in November if Clinton gets the nomination. They wouldnt dare let Trump take the presidency.

(25,505 posts)and it's rigged and all part of a huge, nationwide conspiracy -- excluding the places he won.
If he didn't do that every...single...time, it might be a little more believable. Probably not.

(24,397 posts)Yet onward he will trudge, spewing bile about the DNC, Hillary and anyone else that his victimhood tells him is against him, all the while helping not himself, not Hillary, but Trump.

(25,505 posts)They're putting all their faith in a poll that has no source and seems to be based on some guy making a few calls from his basement. It's nearly as bad as that "Sanders ahead 2:1" thread that turned out to be a 14-year-old in Italy who made it all up.
I almost feel sorry for a few of them. June 8th is not going to be a pleasant time around here.

(24,397 posts)It's the unrepentant, in-your-face, you're-a-corporate-sellout crap they continue to spew that really pisses me off. It just gets worse and worse, as do the delusions of grandeur and the absolute certainty that Sanders is going to win not just CA, but the nomination.
And if he doesn't it's only because he was cheated, by Hillary, the DNC, the media, the banks, the rigged system, you name it.

(297,887 posts)yeah, that ship sailed a long time ago.
And if that werent enough, Sanders, making the rounds on the Sunday talk shows, called an election between Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton and Trump the lesser of two evils. Thats a claim I wouldnt bat an eye at in most election years. But with Trump in the race a demagogue who has proposed some truly evil policies thats a reckless charge.
That's been sanders for a long time.. reckless. And, look where it's got him.
poor burnie.. he can't stand that's he's been beaten and he's acting out.
According to exit poll data, Sanders supporters overwhelmingly skew young, white and male, many of them college-educated. Bernie Bros do exist in droves. Clintons supporters, by comparison, encompass vast numbers of everyone else including blacks, Latinos and women, many of them poor and marginalized.
So proud to support Hillary.. Mahalo for this SunSeeker~
