Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumMy Discussion w/ Millennials @ The Dispensary
As you all know Colorado is booming with newbies especially Millennials due to the marijuana industry.
There are no old folks working in this industry so the dispensaries and grow warehouses are breeding grounds for Bernie/Bust movement.
All these kids I spoke to yesterday are brand new to Colorado and swear they will not vote or will write in Bernie come November.
I asked why would you want to see Colorado turn to being a RED state again?
Whuuuutttt???? THAT WON'T HAPPEN I WAS TOLD.
These kids had no idea George Bush won Colorado twice - the first time by A LOT. They are under the impression that since we legalized marijuana Colorado is solid blue.
What I heard from them was a Bernie Sanders speech. They've heard it so many times they know it by heart. None expect Sanders to endorse Hillary much less campaign for her and if he does...well under the bus and heads will explode.

(4,236 posts)Was it just confrontational? What approach would work to get a thoughtful dialogue outside of Trump fear? What was the reasoning behind the tender's gf's future vote? (if you know) Thanks.

(24,135 posts)and educational for them. He was angry about the superdelegates all going for Hillary and voter fraud. I then he calmed down a lot when I explained that John Hickenlooper/Michael Bennet both won with 1 million votes, while Sanders won with only 72,000 votes and only 127,000 participated. Because unlike primaries - caucuses were the far more effective at disenfranchising than primaries could ever be. As for the SuperD's - why would those who received a million votes bend to so few and many didn't vote for either these officials.
He got it.
I told him to listen to his girlfriend and start reading about Hillary because he was only familiar with Sanders anti-Hillary, anti-Democrats rhetoric . Didn't sound like his girlfriend has made much headway with him.
He said both parties need to blow up and new parties need to emerge. Well that's not going to happen I asked will that solve our problems or make them worse?
He did not have an answer.
Hope this helps.

(16,104 posts)it's not about the 'cult of personality.'
It's about our shared values and aspirations. No one individual represents that.
If O'Malley had won, I'd be for O'Malley. If Sanders had one, I'd be for Sanders.
All they had to do was win. They didn't.
It's about our Democratic nominee now.
We know without a doubt, Republicans do not share our values and aspirations. None of them.

(90,662 posts)....that their votes were stolen by the Dem Party, and that Hillary is status quo (i.e. Obama's third term, I guess. Like that's a bad thing). BS is running hard against Hillary and the Dem Party, and his acolytes are eating it up.
If he brings us 1968 at the Convention and a badly wounded nominee I'll never forgive him. In 1968 we got Nixon. In 2000 we got BushCheney. If 2016 brings us Trump this country is going to be in the deepest trouble it has ever been in.
Sanders is fringe left, and they are Not Dem's Friends.

He's now "hooked" on the celebrity and the money.
I fear that he is no longer in control of himself, and may follow his acolytes into the Neverland of "Bern or Bust"--breaking up the Dem Party in the process.

(16,672 posts)And THAT is the real problem. They think supporting an anti-establishment candidate for President is all it takes for real change.
They're so naive.
