Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumRepublican Colin Powell Deals Death Blow to Hillary Clinton Email Scandal
On ABCs This Week, former Sec. of State Colin Powell admitted that he used a private email account for public business. Powells explanation of why he used a private email account amounted to a death blow for Republicans who are trying to build a scandal out of Hillary Clintons emails....
Powells description of his own emails as pretty benign matches up with Rep. Adam Schiffs description of the Hillary Clinton emails that the Benghazi committee has read. According to Sen. Chuck Schumer, Clintons private email system was based on the system that Powell used.
The technology available in most federal agencies is woefully outdated. It isnt surprising that appointees would use technology that is available in the private sector because it is better. Powells emails from his personal account went into the State Department system because they were addressed to employees in State. The same is the case with the Clinton emails. Powells discussion of his own experience with his personal email account adds credibility to the claim that there is nothing to see here.
If Hillary Clinton broke the law, as some Republicans are claiming, then Colin Powell also broke the law.
The more that is revealed about the use of private email, the more it looks like Republicans are trying to make something out of nothing. It has been a bad day for the Republican Clinton email scandal, and it is only going to get worse for the Republican Party as they continue to go down what looks like a dead end.

(4,309 posts)but it should put an end to that manufactured "scandal."
The backwash already regards Powell as a traitor for endorsing Obama.

When it was his job to know he didn't, compared to now when nobody gives a damn about his opinion.

(1,615 posts)benghazi et al is so fucking stupid, and yet it comes up in the news so often that people are convinced that hil is a candidate with 'issues'
it's almost turning me into a supporter. unfortunately I lean a bit too far left. however, should she win the primary she will have my full contribution.
republicans are aggressive assholes. I don't think that the proper response is aggression in return, but I wouldn't mind seeing a few more frankens take up the cause.

(90,556 posts)She was nattering about it again because it's in the news again because the GOP/NYT is still beating this dead horse, and averred that Hillary will just have to comment about it/answer all the questions about it "Because >sigh< it's just not going away." I think it was yesterday.
That woman has turned into a hack.

I remember reading early on about this.. that Powell had used his private e-mail server, too.
This was before it became the law.. just like with Hillary. But, when has that ever stopped Cons and whomever else is whining about this?

(2,707 posts)If he could endorse Obama in 2008, he can stand up for Hillary. Its not like Republicans like him anymore anyway. Nor did they ever, except as a showpiece.

I mean, who doesn't have this image permanently seared into their brain?
Just sayin'...

(81,110 posts)I certainly goofed once in the Bernie Sanders Group, when I replied to a post - to reply specifically to THAT post. I just didn't have the presence of mind to check up at the top of the screen to see which forum the thread was in. D'OH! It's easy enough to do if one is momentarily not paying attention. Taught me to make sure to check which forum. I apologized, of course. It's a habit that just sorta has to be formed. I'm working on it myself, trying to be more contientious about that.
Btw - thank you for being so courteous!
