https://www.reddit.com/r/SandersForPresident/comments/4jybwp/just_finished_mailhome_voting_for_my_whole_family/My parents as well as my uncle and aunt usually do not vote, so I asked them if I could vote for them as I'm more educated in the issues. They said yes!
So I just put stamps on 6 ballots and mailed them out!

I never thought of this problem with mail in voting but what would stop someone from literally paying people for their mail in ballots? Seems like it would be extremely easy.

(25,517 posts)That's what they did with the guy in Nevada who admitted he changed his registration. After a few people in Nevada for Sanders criticized the guy, the entire Nevada for Sanders section of reddit was declared a Brock-funded conspiracy.

(22,871 posts)using for years when they get caught. "false flag operation!!" "conspiracy!". Some of this stuff is Alex Jones level intrigue.

Unless Bernie wins something. Then, everything went perfectly smoothly.

(25,517 posts)So, it's only kinda fraud-y. haha
The guy with the math comment is right, of course:
Parents + uncle + aunt is usually 4, plus the dude is 5, not 6.
Bernie math strikes again!

(22,871 posts)what he did might be illegal.

(25,517 posts)Oh, wait. Was that wrong? Should I have not done that? lol

(16,104 posts)Should voting be more of an affirmative "act" rather than something as casual as returning a sweepstakes generic mailer?
There's a reason many people don't vote - they don't give a shit. Is this the 'swing voter' we want?
TwilightZone
(25,517 posts)You can essentially vote whenever you want, you don't have to schedule around work, school, etc., you don't have to find polling places that have been moved or closed, etc. You can do research while you're voting. In Florida, you don't have to get through the police roadblocks that the local GOP just coincidentally set up for the day of voting. In Arizona, you don't have to find the polling places, which are roughly as few and far between as abortion providers.
I think it's great.
yallerdawg
(16,104 posts)or is it more like an absentee ballot request?
Do you have to "opt out" of voting at a polling place essentially?
I understand Oregon didn't have anywhere to go vote. It was all by mail, or dropping off at a ballot box by a certain time?
TwilightZone
(25,517 posts)As I recall, Oregon has been mail-only since 2000.

(16,104 posts)In Alabama, we have to show approved valid picture ID to vote.
West Coast just mails it in or drops it in a box.
Remarkable!

(25,517 posts)The states can do almost whatever they want, especially after the Roberts court ruled that racism is dead and the Voting Rights Act was gutted.
