burny didn't make a very good candidate for the Democratic Nomination.. that is for sure.
He tears down the Nominee of Democratic Party, Hillary Clinton.. he disses the successful Democratic President of the United States of America, he won't contribute to helping Dem Candidates on the down tickets.. yet wants everything to appear magically that a Dem Congress could actually make happen.
BS is not into building a strong Democratic foundation.. he has no gravitas.. so grateful he's out.. now he just wants to be #theanointedone.
@PropaneJane
The truly disgusting part about Bernie's contested convention aspirations is how he thinks he's entitled to override the will of POC/women.

As for Julian. He is my choice and I believe Hills. Their energy combined will ignite voters. I know some don't want him at this time. He is young.....yet so was Obama. My bet, he will be our President eight years after Hill.
Cha
(298,021 posts)I think Julian's a quick learner like then Sen Obama.. he didn't grow up speaking Espanol but has been studying it since 2010 is what I read.. So he's able to speak to our Latino People who are more fluent in their own language.
President Obama chose him because he knows he's capable.. and Liberal_Stalwart says he's her boss and she likes him.. he knows what he's doing!
I also read recently that Latinos are the fasting growing block who have registered to Vote this year.
I wonder why?
I'm know he is studying the language....and ridiculed for not be fluent. F them. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.
Ha! Love he is LS's boss. Awesome.
Latinos are a huge block. I was talking to a friend tonight, she is from Columbia. We discussed that they are rushing to become citizens to vote. When I first met her she was not. I helped her study for the test. She passed.
Hugs Cha.

(3,284 posts)I remember when BS was asked how he would get his proposals passed, he said that if he did become the nominee, it would be because so many people turned out to vote. The fact that he'd have so many people backing him would theoretically provide the necessary support to "transform the country" (because millions of people who voted for him would stand on the White House Lawn for 4 months straight or something, LOLOLOL). Well, he's obviously not getting the requisite votes, so doesn't that invalidate his whole plan?
If he were to become the nominee by flipping superdelegates and convincing people he'd be a better match for Trump where would the support necessary to enact his plans come from?
I don't know why I'm trying to make sense out of this...it's impossible!
Cha
(298,021 posts)Would it have to be the Super dels standing outside Mitch McConnell's Window then?! Or if the Dems down ticket would succeed with the funds that Hillary's worked for and donated to them.. maybe it will be a Dem Congress getting things done with Madam President leading the way.
Think about that bernies.

(15,512 posts)It's partly what I'm NOT hearing. There were big plans afoot to bring the Bernie show to CA but haven't heard a peep about it in months. Meanwhile Hillary is campaigning bigtime right here in So Cal. This just in, about a demonstration this afternoon at Cal State LA which is in East LA:
Clinton was attending fundraisers and courting black and Latino voters in Los Angeles on Thursday, before her afternoon speech at the college.
She met with local black leaders during a stop at the California African American Museum in Exposition Park, where she touted her lead over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
"I am 3 million-plus votes ahead of Senator Sanders, right?" Clinton told the crowd. "I am nearly 300 pledged delegates ahead of Senator Sanders."

I was originally of the mind that they'd take it easy in CA and kind of coast on fumes but I guess Indiana changed that plan. So yeah, it's looking like we're going to deliver a helluva coup de grâce . Woohoo!

(15,512 posts)Beginning of the article:
Protesters gathered Thursday in the streets and on the campus of East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park, where former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton brought her campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Protesters supporting Clinton's Democratic rival, Bernie Sanders, clashed with her supporters outside the college as a cordon of police kept watch.

(51,797 posts)Mariachis entertained the crowd of nearly 2,000 before Clinton spoke, and she was introduced by a college student who lived in fear of her mother being deported.
Surveying the crowd crammed into a stuffy college gym, Clinton declared that she could think of no better place to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. She called for comprehensive immigration reform and a path? for citizenship for those in the country illegally.
...
The boisterous rally was Clintons final public stop of the day. Earlier, she met with African American leaders and headlined a fundraiser hosted by Los Angeles City Councilman Jose Huizar. The regions top Democratic officials turned out to support Clinton, including Mayor Eric Garcetti, Reps. Xavier Becerra and Judy Chu, county Supervisor Hilda Solis, and Senate President Pro Tem Kevin de León.
...
A handful of Sanders supporters unsuccessfully tried to interrupt her evening speech, and scores more protested outside. Clinton, however, focused on a general-election argument by repeatedly skewering Trump, who became the presumptive GOP nominee as Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich ended their presidential campaigns this week.

Trying to find an adequate link -- I have the actual paper on my desk and the article is long.
Sorry. Not having any luck just now.
IIRC from what hubby said earlier today, the GOP presidential primary race may flatline here, because there's only Trump left.
But on our side it will be lively. Expensive -- very expensive -- because of the sheer size of California. A lot of our political climate is actually a good fit for Sanders, but he's burned through a tremendous amount of money, while Hillary has taken in more than she has spent up till now, so she is in good shape for the media buys that are a necessity here if you want to reach all the voters you need to reach.
ucrdem
(15,512 posts)when you bet the farm on NY and PA and lose both I guess. There's not a chance in hell he can turn it around in CA and I won't be surprised if he pulls the plug before he gets here.

He is running short on cash.
In no state is money more crucial for a candidate than in California. Its sheer size, in both geography and population, makes running here a ridiculously expensive endeavor. Its media markets are some of the most costly in the world, and candidates who try to sidestep big ad buys typically fail to convey their message to key segments of the electorate.
So now is a poor time for a precipitous drop in cash flow for Sanders. Amid a string of big losses to front-runner Hillary Clinton in April, Sanders' fundraising for the month fell to $25.8 million which would seem a significant amount, except that in both February and March, he raised nearly $20 million more.
At the same time, he has been burning through his cash far more quickly than Clinton, outspending her in many of the big states he lost. Sanders has not yet reported his spending for April, but he likely spent well more than he raised based on the amount of airtime purchased, the size of his campaign's payroll, and the other expenses the campaign has in a typical month.

(28,270 posts)Sanders revolution is a joke, an internet meme. Made up of trolls on reddit, DU, KOS, TYT etc.
The internet amplifies their voice to make them seem large. They turnout for big rallies on college campuses but they are AWOL at the ballot box every time.
That was Sanders Plan A. It was a massive fail. Far more 18 to 29 years old folks turned out to vote for BHO than Bernie.
What a glorious revolution!

(11,639 posts)Sanders is a career politician. He has had decades to show he is worthy of superdelegate support, and he has earned almost none, while Hillary Clinton, through her incredible resume of experience and performance, has earned the majority. So what does he want now? The nomination should be based on pledged delegates only, and the supers should go to who Sanders believes runs better against Trump. Good grief!

(12,448 posts)and never, EVER permit someone to run as a Democrat without being an actual Democrat for a reasonable period of time, some have suggested 2 years to 4-5 years. At any rate, it shouldn't be two months.
This guy crashes the party and then complains about the hors d'oeuvres, the wine served, the furniture, and the guests.
Thanks for this, Cha!
