It's mathematically impossible for Bernie to win with pledged delegateshttp://www.politico.com/blogs/2016-dem-primary-live-updates-and-results/2016/05/math-says-bernie-sanders-is-finished-222775

(6,444 posts)The remaining contests, however Guam, West Virginia, Kentucky, Oregon, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, California, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, and the District of Columbia only have 933 pledged delegates to offer.
So even if Sanders were to win 100 percent of the pledged delegates in each of those states, he wouldn't make it past the mark.

But it backfired on the GOP. Voters that did not like any of the GOP candidates liked the idea of stealing the election from the candidate with the most votes even less! So Republican voters turned against Cruz because of it.
If the Republican voters did not like the idea what makes BS think we Democrats do? It's just so classless!

(4,667 posts)...and 933 pledged delegates remain.
Keep in mind, though, that Hillary will probably be eliminated from pledged-only victory before California.

(40,245 posts)immoral for him to raise money when he couldn't win. I respect him more than Sanders.

(1,512 posts)But apparently both are more principled than Sanders. Which is a pretty damning indictment of the senator.

(4,035 posts)Lots of commenters claiming that Hillary doesn't have the math either, because they insist on saying she needs 2383 pledged delegates, instead of 2383 delegates, while BS of course only needs 2026 delegates, not 2026 pledged delegates. So she doesn't get to count her superdelegate endorsements, but he does. They refuse to acknowledge that Sanders need all the SD endorsements - he can't win even with a winner-takes-all in SDs, or a proportional allocation of SDs.
They still believe that Hillary can't win open primaries (she's won a majority of them.)
They refuse to believe that Hillary, or even Debbie Wasserman Schultz, don't control the state primary processes.
The result of all this is the opposite of what they want, because these extreme fringe BS supporters refuse to consider Hillary a legitimate candidate. Instead of pushing her left (which is another delusion that they have, as she was to the left of Bernie on several issues, including gun control and immigration) she will be forced to work with the only group that isn't going authoritarian and purist - moderate republicans, who themselves have a problem with rabid purists on their extreme fringe. So she's going to have to compromise towards the center, because those on the extreme left are refusing to work with her - they consider their purity more important than the welfare of the country and its people.
