...."Clinton met with several dozen members of United Steelworkers of America Local 1865 Monday afternoon to talk about possible tariffs or ways to lessen the damage of Chinese dumping of steel that led to the layoff of hundreds of steelworkers in the Tri-State last year.
Its pretty awesome to talk to someone who could be president, said Scott Conley, president of the Steelworkers Local 1865. We hope it will help.
...."Susie McKinney, an Ashland resident and a registered Republican, was among those considering voting for Clinton.
Im for anybody but Trump, she said. I dont care for him. Id hate to have him there for four years. I dont want to listen to his big mouth.
I think its an honor to have her come to Ashland, McKinney said. I wanted to see her in person.
....."I was supporting Bernie (Sanders), Welch said. I think were looking at our first female president. I think its time. I have two daughters. I want them to be able to do whatever they want.
Welch said Clinton has the empathy to help those who have lost their jobs. We have to look ahead and determine how to help those people who have lost their jobs, she said. We cant pretend coal will save us.
...."Joy Sandifer of Ashland thought it was important to bring her two daughters, Vivian, 14, and Elena, 9, to see what we hope is the first woman president.
I like her policies, Sandifer said. I like her experience. Its exciting to see history in the making.
Sandifer homeschools her daughters and one of their tasks was to make woman cards, saying what Hillary would do for women.
Wearing a purple pantsuit, Clinton walked over to about 200 supporters, including the Sandifers. Sandifer shook the candidates hand and took a picture of Clinton with her daughters.
Clinton also took the girls women cards with her and promised to sign them. Vivian jotted down items like rights for women, preschool for 4-year-olds and selecting Supreme Court judges on her card.
Im just so proud, Sandifer said. Its been a great day.

(15,696 posts)What color pantsuit is Trump wearing today? Cruz? Sanders? Are they still wearing those same boring dark fabrics?
