You will be Persona non grata in the Democratic Party.

It is sad.
I hope he gets contested by a Dem in Vermont.

The truly disgusting part about Bernie's contested convention aspirations is how he thinks he's entitled to override the will of POC/women.

(67,782 posts)...do not understand how it works.
In January, when the next Congress is convened, Sanders is in for a HUGE (or is that YUUUGE?) dose of reality. He won't even be able to get his post office naming bills passed, and hopefully he'll be left caucusing by himself in an empty room.

(481 posts)I don't think the DNC is going to grant him the nomination when he has no sway. He is losing in pledged delegates, super delegates, and the popular vote. Sanders is going on a massive who ego trip just so his supporters can say the election was stolen from him.

(11,637 posts)If he can't win against a strong Democratic coalition he will be vengeful. Look how he snubbed the president of the conference he managed to get himself invited to at the Vatican. With lots of world personalities and press there he made a grand show of deliberately snubbing her--for what purpose? It was very revealing about the mind/personality of Bernie Sanders.
Unfortunately, he has had a strong taste of power. No way he will forget how how much he loved it.

(8,133 posts)He probably will not be able to handle that. He'll have to pull some major stunt to make the shows anymore. Mainly, all you see is negative stuff about Trump.

(11,637 posts)Down is still up, the sky is still green, and Hillary Clinton is still a hazard waiting to be unleashed on humanity. Ughhhh.
I also read that Bernie supporters protested her Cinqo de Mayo event in California in force--carrying signs and yelling out Bernie's favorite smears of her. He is hell bent on taking California. He wants to win Hispanics buy convincing them of discredited garbage about Hillary Clinton. Using fear tactics and lies.
I so wish he would knock it off and stop his deliberate divisiveness.

(5,065 posts)There will be one vote. The pledged and super delegates will vote as they have indicated and Sec. Clinton will be the nominee. Regardless of the kind of "revolutionary" chaos Sanders predicts or intends - the Democratic Party will have none of it. It's over and there is nothing Bernie Sanders can do about it.
The only other likely scenario is that Sanders will have to suspend his campaign prior to the convention due to lack of funds. Having only taken in 25 million in April while routinely spending 48 million per month doesn't leave much room before the red ink drowns his campaign. I expect to see his May donation numbers below April's numbers.

(5,065 posts)Time is working its magic - even true believers are waking up to the fact that sending more $27 donations is just the same as flushing their money down drain.

(2,792 posts)They are "taxing" their supporters and spending millions on ads, consultants, social media, and a trip to the Vatican. Their bookkeeping is also lousy, and the FEC will come knocking again. So much wasted money...
Hillary, on the other hand, has been quite frugal with the funding she has. And the FEC has approved her bookkeeping. I think I would rather have her in charge of our multi-trillion dollar economy.
Just a thought.

(67,782 posts)....if the Democrats finally put up a candidate to run against him. I suppose it depends on the state of the Senate in two years, and if the Democrats have a majority or can risk the possibility of a republican beating Sanders and a Democratic candidate.

(5,065 posts)But our party needs delegates that understand and respect the process. The last thing we Democrats need is a chaos convention just to placate a guy who insists on not being a Democrat - now or ever.

(145,794 posts)I am leaning towards continuing to try which means having to do a special resume. One guy who is running has had his resume up on facebook for several weeks. There is a ton of politics involved which if fine.

(879 posts)He'll show up, force the delegates to vote, he'll lose, and be marched out of there. Hillary could have created a mess in 2008 if she chose (she obviously didn't) because of how close the vote was. This one is not close, she'll be above him significantly in delegates, with a clear majority of the voting delegates. I'm not entirely sure what he thinks he can "contest." He can refuse to cede his delegates to her (Hillary DID cede her delegates to Obama in 2008, and even superdelegate Bill Clinton voted for Obama), which would mean they would actually have to vote on the floor, but he would lose that vote significantly.
The reason they were talking about a contested convention on the Republican side is that no candidate had a majority. It actually makes no sense on the Democratic side. It would basically be an electoral college vote. The losing candidate gets his electoral votes (delegates), but he loses and then gets nothing.

(161 posts)Bernie cannot just go to convention and stand up like a minor prince in the Polish Sejm and evoke the privilege of liberum veto (from the Latin: "I freely forbid" and stop the democratic processes of the Democratic Party.
