Hillary Clinton.
...
Lost job growth isn't due to bad deals with China because the U.S. does not have bilateral trade agreements with that country. China and the U.S. are, however, members of the World Trade Organization, which writes the rules of commerce. A condition of membership was lifting trade barriers. To influence commerce rules, and to benefit from China's liberalized economy, the U.S. dropped tariffs on Chinese imports. Trump and Sanders may blame trade deals for the plight of the white working class, but the real issue is a global economy.
...
Her claim on this is a tax proposal that gives corporations incentives to invest in the USA. According to her "clawback" plan, firms relocating overseas must repay any taxpayer assistance they ever received. As she told the New York Daily News, tax relief is given in exchange for creating jobs. There was, she said, "an implicit bargain."
Elizabeth Warren, the progressive icon, invoked the same implicit bargain while running for the Senate in 2012. Corporations are part of communities with multiple stakeholders, she said: "Part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along."
Clintons proposal to make firms stay or pay is good policy that is also good politics. Given how closely her views resemble Warren's, it's ironic that the candidate most identified with free trade could be the most progressive.

(3,709 posts)Here's her statement for the Record, wherein she explains her
opposition to CAFTA.

P.S.
What, exactly, did Sanders say about her being, as you said,
"...for all of the trade bills."? I'd be grateful for a link, if you
have one. Thanks!

(4,640 posts)when NAFTA came about, she couldn't have voted on it.
CAFTA is the ONLY trade bill that came up when she in the Senate that she could have voted for, and she voted AGAINST it.

(3,709 posts)If you choose not to click on that link, here's the first two sentences from her statement:
"Today the Senate votes on the Central American-Dominican Republic Free Trade Agreement. During my tenure as Senator, I have voted for every trade agreement that has come before the Senate and I believe that properly negotiated trade agreements can increase living standards and foster openness and economic development for all parties."

(3,709 posts)It isn't a "fact" because she voted on EVERY
trade agreement that came before the Senate
EXCEPT one, CAFTA, Therefore, your statement
is, in fact, not true.

4. Considering she was FLOTUS
when NAFTA came about, she couldn't have voted on it.

What did bernie say, you ask?
Well bernie says a lot of things..sort of, half way, around the truth.
Why would anyone believe the half truths of an opportunist. If he has to run his campaign on slander & slogans, because there just is little record of his own to make him credible, then he's an opportunist.
Btw, when's he planning on answering to the FEC investigation. And why is bernie the ONLY campaign that failed to comply nor even get his financial campaign crap together when all the others did?
Where'd the $10 million "donation" come from?
What is he hiding in his taxes?
Same as his campaign stump speeches & his one liner attacks.
Skirts around the subject cuz he's an opportunist.
Oh and btw, you are in our Hillary Group.
And your argument is just another bernie sleight of hand. Dance around the subject like bernie does.
You asked a question & you got the only answer there is.
The truth.
Don't come back.
