Bernie Sanders begins making case to Hillary Clinton’s superdelegates

Yahoo 5-1-2016

Sanders pointed out that although he won Washington state’s Democratic caucuses by 46 points (73 percent to 27 percent) and 25 of the state’s 36 pledged delegates, Clinton has the support of 10 of Washington’s Democratic unpledged superdelegates.

But no mention of the states that Clinton won. If it was applied by the same rational to both sides Clinton would receive 374 while Sanders would be limited to 143. But that was not the purpose of the automatic delegates.

“Let’s be clear,” Sanders said. “It is virtually impossible for Secretary Clinton to reach the majority of convention delegates by June 14 — the end of the primary season — with pledged delegates alone. She will need superdelegates to take her over the top at the convention in Philadelphia. In other words, it will be a contested convention.”

So Sanders is also pushing for the "Convoluted Math" like some of the Bernies over in the other group.

It is doubtful that the delegates supporting Hillary will switch over to Sanders when he has been a jerk towards them.

not because he believes it will ever happen. It's because he needs to convince his Followers that Hillary is on her way to jail and that the Super Delegates will have to elect him. It's the only way he can still milk them for their $$$. Even they aren't besotted enough to throw money down the toilet, so he had to create a scenario in which he is magically named the nominee.

That's why they all talk about Hillary being indicted all the time. They actually believe him (or his surrogate scam artist Jane) and they click a few more bucks to him.

After McGovern's huge loss, those who were actual working members of the party wanted a way to make sure their candidate was electable, not just a current wave of rhetoric.

The rules were created to counterbalance the Bernies.

without the supers means getting 59% of the pledged delegates. This isn't the Senate. There is no filibuster to overcome.

Sanders is saying that if he gets only 42% of the of the pledged delegates to Hillary's 58% that the convention is contested.

Bernie, you are an asshole.

Planning on gaining enough pledged delegates for him to win. It doesn't sound reasonable to ask Hillary to have the required number of delegates with pledged and allow him to come from behind, take super delegates to make up the difference. No, they are not going to have a rule for Hillary and another for Bernie. I would like to see Hillary achieve more delegates and negate this math.

Likely receive nearly all of the remaining automatic delegates. I have her with 489 but some media or others show her with 522 I think. So there are either 192 or 150 left. Some automatic delegates are not making it public their support of Clinton because of the behavior of some of the Bernie supporters.

She should also receive a minimum of an additional 530 pledged delegates.

Bernie will do harm to the Dem Party and to himself if he takes it to the convention... There is no way in hell any super delegates will swing to him... I have lost all respect for Bernie and his scorched earth team... He will be an embarrassment when over.

... I'll give Bernie full credit where it's due: When it comes to the grift, he's a master at it.

He needs his followers to believe that he will be the nominee one way or the other. That's the only way the donations keep flowing.

The money spigot is already starting to dry up. He's going to look like an even bigger fool than he already does if - after promising his fans that he'll "stay in it until the last state votes" - he doesn't have the money to do it.

A con artist from the get-go. If he's actually stupid enough to think he still has a shot at the nomination, that alone proves he's too stupid to be president.

If he'd stayed in Italy longer and met up with American ex-pat groups who will be voting via absentee ballot in upcoming primaries, he could have made an argument (a weak argument, but an argument nonetheless) that this was a "campaign" trip. But even then, how do you explain how your entire family needed to accompany you?

It will be interesting to see how his campaign justifies that trip, which it admitted was " not political."

In light of the FEC violations and flagging donations, I predict that Bernie's campaign will end up in the red, unless he decides not to compete in California.
