Can't install 17.1 on my gen six iPad. The update requires 928 MB of space. My pad has

7.66 GB of free space. When I attempt to complete the installation I get an error message that the pad doesn’t have adequate space available.

This issue began with the first of the 17. updates. In the past I deleted apps until the updates would install. With 17.1 however, deleting apps doesn’t seem to work.

Any/all advice is sincerely appreciated.:hi

Contact Apple Support thru the website. Tell them you can't install the OS upgrade even though you have space. emulatorloo Oct 2023 #2

They take up all sorts of space. ‘Messages’ seems to love to hold on to the photos others have sent I’ve cleaned that up for room. That’s not a ton of mb’s one video could fix it.

🤞

On the website you leave a message asking them to call you. They usually call you back with 5 minutes.

They are knowledgeable and very helpful.

thereby freeing up space. I think I pay $0.99/mo just to be sure I can do that.

On edit, I missed that you said you have more than enough space. As someone else said, call Apple support.

It’s free, and why I still buy macs.

I think the update takes more memory

My phone had about 50% of memory used by apps and such, but system data claimed the other 50%. I tried everything and the solution was to back up the phone, wipe it and restore from backup.

This may not be the cause of your problem, but take note.

Other than that, I guess it’s really “call apple”. Good luck.

P.S. Solid state drives work to copy stuff. Details omitted here.
