Victim of another Apple bug. And it's nasty.

OK, my phone says "Almost Full". But it's not.

Still, there are lots of apps and data that I don't use because it's too damn small physically to use. I read no books on it. Only on the iPad Pro or the desktop.

So I delete stuff I don't use.

Half empty now and I still get the message. 62.3 used of 64. Of course, Apple still nags me to move photos and more to iCloud.

Give up and ask the internet.

What to Know

Sometimes, after updating, your iPhone says storage is full, despite having plenty of space. This is a known software bug.

Check your iPhone storage in the Settings app to confirm it is only a bug.

...

Why is your iPhone saying storage full when it's not? Well, back when iOS 15, and in some cases, iPadOS 15, launched, many users experienced an unusual error. Their iPhones started saying storage was full. The notification kept popping up even after being dismissed. This can happen if you are almost out of storage, but these users have a lot of space left on their devices and are still getting this message. With the release of iOS 16, it's possible you might still see this error.

Still there with 16.5.1 (very latest)

ALL THOSE PROGRAMMERS.
Working on the world's most expensive ski goggles?

Give someone a trillion dollars and what do they do?

Damn. I sure do miss Steve Jobs.

Edit to add: if you use the SanDisk iXpand app (required to use their photo backup iXpand drive) a little research says that the app can cache a lot of data (500 mb for me) and not release it. So, deleting and reinstalling is recommended and deleted the cache (the app stores no data )

It also seems to fix bugs. Users have mentioned re-flashing the drives from the vendor site but I never ran into that.

Also, they say to turn off iCloud Photos while backing up the photos in the phone. It must try to download them all, because my ex said that the backup was taking forever, and punted on it. Hey, this is all in the fine print and in the forums.

Product seems ok, but the app may be cruft that works most of the time.

You can also check it in iTunes or Finder.

I transferred gigabytes of books and photos the other evening to the computer so I can delete them (for my own phone ease of use) anytime. I made really good use of that unlimited data plan. Too good.
