iPhone...

Where I live cell coverage is one bar at best, Verizon sells an EXTENDER that works really good and it stopped working.

May not be related.

For some reason our Wi-Fi calling works great for 8 minutes, then hangs up, so we have to use this thing.

This may have NOTHING to do with the update, however.

Other than the new App Library, I've not noticed much in changes that affect my usage. I like to stay current if only to be sure I've got the latest security fixes.

No need to do it, but I’ve had no problems either. I use my phone like always, and have no effect from the new (and unwanted/unneeded, to me) organizational bells and whistles.

If you have no reason to upgrade, I would recommend holding off until the iOS 14.2 release, which I'm currently running in beta. The battery life on the initial iOS 14 release was pretty lousy on my older phone and has mostly improved in 14.2.

The iOS 14 release was pushed out a little early to allow for compatibility with the new Apple Watch models (watchOS 7) so it lacked some polish. (Alternately, COVID made development slower than originally planned.) iOS 14.1 will be the initial release for the new iPhones they are announcing next week but will not be pushed as a general release to the public.

We are all waiting for BigSur macOS 16 to come alive. It will integrate iOS apps onto the Mac computer and expand what computing devices can do.

Will Windows 10 incorporate Android apps into it's core system?
Developers want to design one app for all Apple devices.

Apologies for not being more succinct.

My MacOS is ancient. As is my Mac. I'm holding off on updating both the mobile and mac operating systems until I can buy a new Mac. The new Mac -- with Apple chips -- are supposed to be announced fairly soon.
