Google Maps app available for iPhone

A friend informed me this morning that Google has finally released an app for iOS.

It made me sign up for a Google account which I really don't want. Now. I have another username and another password to remember. It seems as if you need the Google account in order to save addresses.

I've been using the Apple map app and it seems fine to me. I used it to get turn by turn navigation and it works just fine. While there might be some location errors, for the US, I expect it works as well as need be.
