So I have an HP Printer I rarely use and am using OSX 10.8.6 on a year old imac

and when I try to use the scanner (to scan a baby picture of a poor child who "gave the finger" in her baby pic hehehe) the hp printer tells me to initiate this scan from my computer. I can't find ANYTHING about this on my mac)

Help.

You'll most likely need the software that came with the HP printer/scanner SirRevolutionary Dec 2011 #1

If you don't have the cd, you can browse HP's website to see if they have scanning software for OS X that's compatible with your scanner http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html

If it is, you can probably use any program to get the scan, by using the "acquire image" command, usually in the "insert" menu.

If you're connected over a network, you'll have to get the Mac drivers from hp's website.

Or was that 10.6.8?

In any case, go to HP for printer software for your Mac. Otherwise an existing editing application such as Photoshop might already have an "Acquire" menu item available to scan.
