there everyone!
I read a post here on the DU a few days ago re: Google and their B.S. A recommendation was to use "DuckDuckGo" for a search engine. The name sounds dumb but I don't care about why a name sounds dumb; it is why you are using it which is my rationale for switching to it.
I decided to try it and wow ...
I ran the usual things on this laptop (which YES, I managed to fix!) and between AVG anti-virus and SUPERAntiSpyware (both FREE editions btw) ... results on these two scans usually finds something (most OF the time it is SUPERAntiSpyware that finds the problems I've noted).
Well, after running these programs per usual yesterday, I came up with zero problems!
I think I'd be recommending to everyone out the to use this search engine rather than Google and all of their crap!
My advice to anyone that downloads such a partition as was on this machine is this: Invest a whole $15.00 and purchase the a DVD decoder from:
http://www.roxio.com/enu/store/dvdplayersdecoders.html?rTrack=m_pro_playback (works with Windows XP and Vista).
On edit: NOTE: I found an online coupon for Roxio. I've used this in the past and it worked. The code is:
ROXIOSTORE15 This gets you 15% off of the $15.00. Great deal really!
I hope this helps someone looking for a DVD decoder that actually works without messing up your computer (like about $12.00 or so and very much worth it!).
Note: I have NO affiliation w/Roxio but I would recommend this to anyone needing a DVD decoder.
Regards to all here and I'm really glad this forum is here!
