Rooting is the process of allowing users of smartphones, tablets and other devices running the Android mobile operating system to attain privileged control (known as root access) over various Android subsystems.

Anyone ever tried to do this...?

I'm supposed to get a new wifi device today..the 1st one had problems..I pulled the APK files you are referring to into the desktop..still running via virgin mobile...and using a usb chord, downloaded to the fires, they show up, but...nothing..Think when I get the wifi back up and running I'll try first to download...bluestacks..If that doesn't work I'll go ahead and install the files directly to tablet...

I got the ophelia gps via usb, on the tablet but it won't boot...I get an error msg referring to doing a root..whatever..
