CA statewide elected offices are term limited after 2 terms.
Shirley Weber was appointed CA Secretary of State in 2021 to replace Alex Padilla who was appointed to the US Senate to replace Kamala Harris who became VPOTUS. Shirley Weber was elected to a 1st full 4 year term in 2022. Is Weber eligible to run for re-election to CA Secretary of State in 2026? If not, Gavin Newson should appoint Weber to the US Senate.
