Another lonely Christmas?

Story here

From the article:

Nearly a third of British adults feel lonely at some time, according to a survey carried out by BBC Radio 5 live.

The poll indicated that 7% of all adults and 10% of those aged over 65 expect to spend Christmas mostly on their own.

Sounds like an adopt a stranger program would allieviate this. Neighbors could invite someone in the neighborhood who has nowhere to go. Heck I got 3 invites because my neighbors though I was staying in town, but I am going to my Sisters in Indiana. Point being is there are many ways to get that 10 percent invited for Christmas Dinner easily.

Peace is assured when you don't have to face drama, crowds, or traffic.

Sometimes it's worth it, but when you're fragile or irritated at people's ways, being alone is refreshing.

And there's this:

There's another one of 2 hours of old school songs with a fireplace that works on the other computers on IE but not in firefox: says not available in my country on this laptop

But that one is good, too.

Someone said middle age is when you're home alone on a Saturday night, the phone rings, & you hope it's not for you.

Not being alone can be annoying; being alone can drive people to suicide.

For one thing, practically everyone can get some time alone if they need it; some people have no real opportunities not to be.

I don't think being alone in itself drives people to suicide

really, really sucks. Been there in the past and can't say it was an enjoyable time period.

It just drives home the fact that you are alone all the time and while on other days there is the overhead of life to keep you busy on holidays when in a sense the regular world stops, there is nothing to offer that distraction.
