Conservative MP Invokes Cromwell's Words, tells Boris Johnson "In the Name of God, Go"

Uh-oh...looks like Boris may be headed to a no-confidence vote on his leadership.

"Conservative MP David Davis, from the same party as Prime Minister Boris Johnson, called on the British leader to step down from office as Johnson faces a torrent of criticism from lawmakers and citizens over his alleged participation in a party held at 10 Downing Street in breach of Covid-19 rules."

This same phrase first used by Oliver Cromwell in the 1600s was also used by MP Leo Amery in addressing Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain regarding his mismanagement of the Norway campaign and the UK's overall conduct of the war vs Nazi Germany. Like Davis and Johnson today, Amery and Chamberlain were both conservative members of Parliament.

"You have sat too long here for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go".

It's a place where the sycophantic press unanimously converts barefaced crony corruption at the highest levels into mere (buzzword) "sleaze". It's a place where, if you are anywhere near "circles of power" and are not already utterly corrupt, you are considered by all to be a fool.
