Back to school - but no mention of masks

The nearest I can find about masks in reports of what is proposed for making all pupils in England return to school in September is that travelling on school buses will require a mask, the same as on general public transport. Well, duh. But they're going to put pupils and teachers into classrooms at their normal capacity for hours, with no more than normal ventilation (and as autumn wears on, presumably with closed windows), with nothing like 2m between them, and they apparently don't see a need for masks.

Am I the only one going WTF? I thought someone would bring it up in news reports, but I've found nothing. Not even a "this is why that wouldn't work". It might take a bit to get the youngest to follow it (mind you, those who find themselves in a uniform for the first time then might just take it as another part of that), but it's surely worth trying, and those a bit older should be able to follow it.

2. I think masks are needed but I'd hate to be a teacher who has to ensure compliance

Many would have it below their nose. A teacher says put it up over nose. Student does and then lowers it after passing by. A teacher nightmare Iím sure. Just donít have school until a vaccine.

3. I suspect a lot of schools will have their own, stricter rules

But it's not easy at all and requires everyone to work together constructively

4. Our school district here in suburban central ohio

Is only strongly recommending masks for 4th thru 12th grades. Kindergarten thru 3rd -no masks. Teachers and staff are required to mask although I donít know what diff that will make. Iím pretty sure itís gonna be nearly impossible to keep masks on the kids. And itís business as usual. And if you donít like the idea of sending your kid to share all of those germs you are welcome to home school or enroll them in a private school. We pay pretty hefty taxes in this district. Iím wondering why they canít arrange to have virtual classrooms. Donít know how this will shake out but Iím very worried about my 4 grands.
