Robert the Bruce statue at Bannockburn defaced by 'BLM' graffiti

Could somebody please explain how Robert the Bruce is racist?

https://www.thenational.scot/news/18513715.robert-bruce-statue-bannockburn-defaced-blm-graffiti/

THE Battle of Bannockburn site has been vandalised overnight with graffiti calling Robert the Bruce a “racist king” and calling for his statue to be removed. Images on social media appeared to show markings on the wall at the visitor centre and the statue.

National Trust for Scotland bosses, who operate the centre, said they were “disappointed” by the act. The general manager for Edinburgh and East, Stuart Maxwell, said: “We are very disappointed by the vandalism of the iconic Bruce statue at Bannockburn and the A listed rotunda.

It comes after campaigners Topple the Racists identified more than a dozen statues in Scotland with links to slavery and colonialism which they say should be removed. However, the Bannockburn site was not identified on that interactive map.

The removal of the statue of slave trader Edward Colston in Bristol at the weekend has sparked a conversation about what the UK’s public statues represent.

Although there appears to be no evidence of who did it one way or another.

The situation is not helped by some of the choices of statues targeted by anti racist protestors being rather odd. For every example of something that does need to go such as the Green Man and Black's Head pub sign in Ashbourne, Derbyshire you get some really daft targets such as statues of Earl Grey (the Prime Minister who abolished slavery in the colonies) and W.E. Gladstone.

And on the other hand the far right have gone from posing by war memorials (not targeted by protestors) to targeting statues of Nelson Mandela.

And he had a pretty awful record of bigotry, what with him expelling the Jews and everything.

As a Montgomery descendant, I recently learned that I should hate them. That is all.

Not sure I have words. It will not be the BLM movement though. He has no relevance to them. I am reckoning on the remnants of Combat 18 or something like that. Hardcore fascists with union through violence...
