Donald Trump confirms pre-election UK visit

US President Donald Trump has confirmed he will travel to London 10 days before the UK general election.

He will be in the capital with the first lady for the Nato summit between 2 and 4 December.

Mr Trump will also attend a reception at Buckingham Palace, which will be hosted by the Queen.

The president has previously been criticised for voicing his opinions of British political leaders, including Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn.

The White House said in a statement that the president "looks forward to meeting" the other Nato leaders and would "emphasize the need for the Nato alliance to ensure its readiness for the threats of tomorrow".

If Trump repeats his previous strong support for Johnson during this visit, it may not be a move the Tories' campaign managers appreciate.

Corbyn is the guy you'd choose for your opponent if you could. One notch below vile. It's quite amazing the great Labour Party voted him in and still tolerates him.

2. Well, living and having the right to vote in the UK, I'll have to disagree.

Trump's overtures about the NHS in the context of Johnson's desperation for a US trade deal in particular strike a nerve among many in the electorate, and this visit will be well timed as a reminder.

There's also the small matter of the report on Russian interference in UK politics that Jonson & co. are hoping to suppress until after the election, and developments in the current presidential impeachment process may play into that.

Also: "One notch below vile". LOL. Just LOL. In the context of the two rogues that are the OP's actual subject, a sense of proportion is a handy thing to cultivate.

But, I'll stick with my characterization of Corbyn. Frankly, I dont think he likes his country. The communism bothers me, along with the toleration of anti-Semitism.

5. Well, he's not a communist, so that shouldn't be a problem.

I think there's a problem with viewing our politics with an American slant.

Corbyn's social policies (as opposed to the man himself) have generally polled very positively, even among those who might never vote Labour.

As for his "toleration of anti-semitism", it's a problem among all the UK's major parties, but for some reason only Labour tends to be singled out.

BTW, I'm not a Corbyn fan. I'll be voting SNP in the coming election.

But I posted this OP because I wanted to discuss Johnson and the US/Trump axis. It's a bit tiresome that many times when I post something like this, somebody who can't vote in the UK all of a sudden wants to talk about Corbyn.

"and would "emphasize the need for the Nato alliance to ensure its readiness for the threats of tomorrow"."

he will talk about the witch hunt and inaugural crowd size.

6. Expect this interview between Farage and Trump to get some re-airing before and during the visit:
