which, no joke, a hardline Brexiteer on a UK forum I post on did.

Switzerland was, at least, the 6th largest export destination from the UK in 2017, and the 11th largest import source - https://www.ons.gov.uk/businessindustryandtrade/internationaltrade/articles/whodoestheuktradewith/2017-02-21 (graph about 2/3rds of the way down). But what they managed was just an agreement to prevent damage due to Brexit - nothing that could be called an improvement.

I also found out that the UK thinks it had a trade surplus of £37.6bn with the USA in 2016, while the USA thought it had a small trade surplus with the UK - see footnote 4 at the above link. Which has made me wonder if trade statistics are worth a damn.
