Favourite Brexit memes

Dark humour's a British specialty in times of trouble. This might sink like a stone, but I've seen so many I really like over the past few days, I thought it might not be a bad idea to gather some of them together.

Here's a starter.

Christopher Robin came along and said 'It doesn't matter whether you're friends or not, because now that I don't have to deal with those pesky EU regulations, I'm chopping all the trees down, turning the Sixty Acre Wood into a luxury development for those bankers who can still be persuaded to stay here for a bit, and selling you off all off to my friend Putin's circus!'

So the only creatures that stayed in England were Piglet, who ended up on a tray on the dinner table, so that David Cameron could now do to him literally what before he had only done metaphorically; and Eeyore who was too gloomy-faced to be accepted for Putin's Circus, and spent the rest of his life braying in incredibly gloomy tones: 'I told you so! I told you so!'

Hi,

At my wife's workplace there are a bunch of Brexiters who were always sounding off about Europe. She tells me that, since the vote, they have been very quiet, like its a taboo subject?

I find that interesting. What's happened?

I took it as "Here's this chump left to hang in mid-air, he thinks he's won, and all he's got left is a couple of union flags to wave. Bon voyage, les rosbifs! etc."

In semaphore, he's signalling "Acknowledge / Correct". So that must be right.

Wheeler didn't invent that first meme, in case anyone imagines the newly appointed Tory whip is that inventive, she just "borrowed" it wholesale from arch-troll Guido Fawkes (which speaks volumes about her anyway) and she's since tried to walk it back as "a tongue in cheek pop" in response to an earlier Olympic results tweet from an EU body.

I'm so glad the adults are in charge.

"The pound in your pocket," etc. etc.

The hatred shown by some of the papers for large segments of the public is terrifying.

Unpatriotic? I don't think it's patriotic in any sense to con the citizens of your country into voting for economic sanctions on their own country, and 'dividing and ruling' the country into near break-up, while living in nice little tax havens elsewhere like most of these media owners do.

Fortunately, the nutter who wants to nuke Germany will have no chance of getting near the nuclear button; but I do worry that the newspaper extremism may incite violence in some unstable people against 'Bremoaners' as it has already been doing against migrants. Note that neither the Mail nor the Express writer had the guts to sign their name to their piece. No accountability.

I don't usually Godwinize, and I'm not saying that even the Hate-Mail really wants to literally crush all dissidents, but the rhetoric of the Brexit media is becoming truly terrifying.

Why? What is in it for them? That the EU make it more difficult for the rich owners to find suitable tax havens? Or just getting drunk on hate?

So I am a saboteur to be crushed along with nearly half my fellow-citizens?
