Eric Hovde spends $4 million of his own money thus far to try and buy U.S. Senate seat
Not content to buy banks in his free time, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Eric Hovde has turned his attention to purchasing a seat in the United States Senate.
According to a report in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Hovde has spent $3.8 million of his hedge fund fortune to try and buy the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by the retiring Sen. Herb Kohl. Its telling that Hovdes campaign only managed to raise a paltry $350,000 in contributions from persons not named Eric Hovde, but for a guy who buys banks in his free time, support is something that can be bought, instead of of being earned.
Even the Urinal/Sentinel has something to say on it.

Wealthy businessman Eric Hovde has put $4 million of his own money into his U.S. Senate campaign, his latest campaign finance report shows, while raising just over $350,000 in contributions.
The first-time Republican candidate had spent $3.8 million as of June 30. Hovde is competing with three other Republicans -- Tommy Thompson, Mark Neumann and Jeff Fitzgerald for the GOP nomination. The winner will face Democrat Tammy Baldwin.
Neumann had spent just over $1.4 million as of June 30. Up-to-date spending figures for Thompson, Fitzgerald and Baldwin werent available yet.
According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Hovde ranks fifth in the country among Senate candidates in the category of "self-funding;" only four other US Senate candidates have put more of their own money into a race this cycle. Tops is Republican David Dewhurst of Texas, who has put almost $7 million of personal funds into his campaign.
Hovde's TV commercials are ubiquitous. He's a darned good reason to vote for Tommy in the primary August 14.
He's also a good reason to chip in a few bucks to Tammy Baldwin if you can afford it. http://www.tammybaldwin.com/take-action/
