Income Inequality In Wisconsin At Highest Level Since Great DepressionNew Report Says Top 1 Percent Makes 19 Times The Average Worker
Wednesday, August 30, 2017, 4:30pm By Danielle Kaeding
Wisconsin is seeing a growing income gap between its top-earners and the average worker, according to a report released earlier this month from the Wisconsin Budget Project and the Center on Wisconsin Strategy (COWS) in Madison.
The richest 1 percent in Wisconsin made -- on average -- 19 times as much as everyone else in 2014, according to Laura Dresser, associate director for COWS. Most people in Wisconsin made less than $50,000 a year on average while the top 1 percent brought in around $933,000 each year.
Dresser said the state hasn't seen such striking levels of inequity since the Great Depression.
"We're on this upward escalator of inequality," she said. "The U.S. is more unequal than we are, but were going right up behind it and back up to the levels that were set in 1929."

(34,661 posts)With ton's of Relatives still trying to survive in Northwestern Wisconsin,we have been so aware of this wage and standard's of living conditions for more the thirty years. All one needs to know is,many of the Counties and Municipalities, have formed Alliances with other County and Village Governments. These alliances and associations are just cover to prevent Union Organizing, any and all Progressive type of Rule Making that might cause Social Class upward movements by their Residents.
And you wonder why there is poverty! Yet,these same effected Persons still think these same so called Rulers will protect their interests. Give me a break, been there and done that and had to buy my own over priced T-Shirt.

(34,661 posts)located above Hwy 12. Sean Duffy's District, and do not know the person repping Barron,Polk,Burnett,Dunn and St Croix District . My info comes from Relatives living in this last District, and they tend to be Right Wing Voters blaming everyone but themselves for their plight.
There are two major Native Communities in this District and One major Community in Duffy's District. Instead of Brown Skin boogie man Politics, you have Red Skin boogie man politics and the spin crap is pure ugly.
Most people have the belief that every Native has a meal ticket from some Casino. Guess again, only the connected Band Members enjoy the fruits. And in that lies the major problem. Access to Health Care Sucks at best for many in these two Districts. The real killer is the Opiate issue, and is not being addressed by the Wisconsin GOP in any way shape or form. What does one expect from a all White Guy Ruling Party.
