Police: Man wielding assault rifle shot, killed by Kirkland cop
Police say an officer shot an killed a man wielding an assault rifle at an apartment complex Kirkland Tuesday afternoon.
It happened just before 4:30 p.m. at the Emerson Apartments off NE 124th Lane.
Police said neighbors called 911 after hearing a woman screaming and someone firing shots in the parking lot. Witnesses said it appears to have stemmed from a dispute.
“It was rapid three or four in a row then a final one, nothing else sounds like that,” said neighbor Mike DeVine who heard the shots. “I’m not used to hearing anything like this.”
