Port of Seattle cancels RFP for new $200M downtown cruise ship terminal amid pandemic

The Port of Seattle has withdrawn its request for proposals to build a new $200 million cruise ship terminal in downtown Seattle.

Port of Seattle Executive Director Stephen Metruck announced the move at a meeting today, taking the executive action after he consulted the five elected members of the Port of Seattle commission.

The project's cancelation comes two and a half months after the port had put the project on hold as the Covid-19 pandemic hit.

Metruck decided it was a good time to pull the plug on the formal competitive proposal process with the pandemic having badly hurt the global cruise ship sector and the Alaska cruise season canceled for the year.
