Mother of 19-year-old killed in CHOP files wrongful death claim against Seattle
The mother of a 19-year-old man who was killed in the Capitol Hill area known as CHOP filed a wrongful death claim Monday against the city of Seattle.
The claim filed by Herrmann Law Group is alleging city officials created a dangerous envrionment and "failed to provide needed medical assistance" to save Horace Lorenzo Anderson, 19, who was shot and died the morning of June 20.
The actions and inaction of city officials have been outrageous in numerous ways," said Lara Herrmann and Mark Lindquist of the Herrmann Law Group in a joint statement. "Lorenzos family needs justice. The community needs the truth. Seattle government needs to be more transparent and accountable.
Anderson, who went by his middle name, died the morning of June 20 after being shot multiple times in the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest zone. The zone was formed after Seattle police boarded up and left the East Precinct following days in early June where a tense face-off between protesters and police resulted in officers repeatedly using tear gas, flashbangs and pepper spray to disperse crowds of largely peaceful protesters.
