754 New Coronavirus Cases, 7 More Dead In Washington

SEATTLE, WA — State health officials confirmed 754 new coronavirus cases in Washington on Wednesday and reported seven additional deaths linked to COVID-19.

According to the Department of Health, at least 348 patients are currently hospitalized with confirmed or likely COVID-19 illnesses across the state. While the daily average for hospital admissions is still well below the peak, it remains much higher than the level seen mid-May. In King County, public health officials reported 40 new hospitalizations Friday.

The state continues to closely monitor hospital activity and occupancy, coordinate transfers and reprioritize distribution of protective gear to frontline workers as needed.

More than 5,732 new illnesses have been confirmed in Washington over the last seven days, representing a statewide case rate of 588 per 100,000 residents, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's case tracker. The highest rate of cases by population continues to be seen in central Washington counties.
