Tolls High As I-66 Express Lanes Launch

The toll depends on the congestion. This morning? Yikes.

We just want to let America know that today, people who need to get to DC from the beltway using the express lane will have to spend $28. One Way.

Tolls High As I-66 Express Lanes Launch

by Chris Teale December 4, 2017 at 10:45 am

The rollout of the I-66 Express Lanes began this morning (Monday) with tolls already on the high side for solo drivers, and high prices could be the norm depending on traffic.

Tolls as high as $25-30 were reported this morning for non-HOV drivers heading from the Capital Beltway to Washington, D.C. on eastbound I-66.

....
Eastbound I-66 inside the Beltway is free for carpoolers with at least two people in the car and an E-ZPass Flex device set to HOV. Solo drivers can take I-66 towards D.C. in the morning, as long as they’re willing to pay a toll that will vary with demand.

The High Occupancy Toll restrictions and charges will apply only to the peak demand direction during rush hour — 5:30-9:30 a.m. in the morning and 3-7 p.m. in the evening.

Even many of the best government programs are so time consuming and cumbersome that filing and staying on top of them is like having a part-time job.

We need a complete change in mentality. Stop welfare and advantages for the rich and concentrate on the majority.

I was amused to see 45 mph as the speed limit when we were in traffic that was more often stopped than going.

bridges, tunnels, etc., should bear in mind that there aren't any in Mississippi. Your federal taxes are providing free highways and bridges to the people of this state, and they HATE the federal gubm't and all you damn Yankees while enjoying their highways and bridges. Suggest that they put in toll roads and smelling salts will be called for!

And I pay approximately $18 per day to commute into DC--$90 per week. And that isn't counting the gas it takes to get to Shady Grove. My commute is 2 hours each way.

We used to stay out near the beltway and use the metro when visiting DC.

It is cheaper than New York though, a train ride from Newark to Penn Station is more than $20 one way.

13. Yes, there is, both Metrorail and Metrobus.

The Metrorail's Orange Line is between the inbound and outbound lanes of I-66 from Vienna all the way to Rosslyn. It is joined just east of West Falls Church by the Silver Line, which starts at Wiehle Avenue.

Metrorail service

The Metrobus 5A route comes in from Dulles Airport.
