There was a major flood when I was young. We made a run to town for provisions and the river rose to overflow the road, which acted as a levee until it was overtopped by flood water, while we were in town. My father drove through swift water that was high enough to get the floorboards wet inside the car. I could feel the car hydroplaning occasionally, and in retrospect a lighter car would have definitely been swept off the road.

While we needed it, it would have been nice to have it spread out over a few days.

On the bright side, my ducks are loving the major puddling on my property.
