There's A Democrat Running For Every Texas Congressional Seat Next Year

This makes me smile http://kut.org/post/theres-democrat-running-every-texas-congressional-seat-next-year

In deep-red Texas, Republicans will have to fight for every congressional seat in next year's midterm elections. For the first time in 25 years, Democrats are running in all of Texas’ 36 congressional districts, according to documents filed with the Texas Secretary of State’s office.

Mark Jones, political science fellow at Rice University’s Baker Institute, says those filings set a record for the number of Democratic challengers in an era of Republican dominance, and are a departure from 2016 – when eight Republican-held congressional seats went uncontested by Democrats.

“We are seeing a groundswell of unusually high support and mobilization among progressive Democrats who are really angered by the Trump administration,” Jones said.

But, Democrats aren’t just gunning for congressional seats. According to preliminary numbers from the Texas Democratic Party, Democrats are running in 89 percent of the seats in the Texas House and 88 percent of the seats in the Texas Senate. Both are the highest percentages the party has mustered since at least 1992.

There have been cycles where a number of congressional seats and large percentage of Texas state house seats were not contested.

we need to give him the Tx Boot and get him off by GOTV. I do believe if the larger cities focused more on the Latino section of the electorate we can turn Tx blue.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Farenthold lose in the GOP primary since he has two qualified opponents.

50 State strategy. Run everywhere, so they have to defend everywhere. Looks like Tom Perez and Keith Ellison are bringing a modern twist on that philosophy without saying as such.

"Cruz has 38% favorability" <-- translation: we need to work harder to GOTV and put Beto in office. Having attended several of his town halls and seeing the throngs of people coming out to listen to Beto i'm convinced he will win. Taking down lyin' Ted Cruz would be epic. I do believe after Doug Jones' win there is hope for Tx.

There is polling that shows that the AG nominee is ahead of Paxton if you tell voters that Paxton is under indictment
