Any other western NYers here under storm warnings

right now? I am posting from my bathroom on the 5th floor of an apartment building. No access to basement so it's the next best place.

Severe thunderstorm warnings with rotation activity and possible tornados. The weather service mentioned several small towns around me. Took kitty with me to the bathroom when my town was added to the list. Plus battery radio and flashlight just in case.

So far, a lot of clouds but not even any rain. Kitty is in her carrier in case we need to leave and is not happy about the confinement. I am bribing her with treats.

(No window in the bathroom.)

Raining hard now. Thunder off in the distance.

If it was just a thunderstorm, I wouldn't be concerned. But when they said that rotations were picked up on radar, they got my attention.

Storms seem to be coming in waves with the same towns and areas named more than once in the warnings.

Rain has stopped. No more thunder and lightning. Still some dark, ugly clouds, but it is partially clearing. I let kitty out of her carrier.

Tornados are not common around here, but they do happen occasionally, so when there's a warning, I take it seriously. Lived in Ohio for 5 years where they were much more common.

An EF1 tornado did touch down last night in a rural area. Minor damage as tornadoes go, but not to the farm owners, I'm sure.

My town just had heavy rains and brief thunder and lightning.

Kitty has forgiven me for having to sit it out in her carrier. I think the treats influenced her decision.
