New Brooklyn DA Kenneth Thompson boots 11 staffers

Brooklyns new district attorney Kenneth Thompson continued to clean house, forcing out 11 staffers Friday to cap off a week that started with stunning revelations that his predecessor may have misused public funds to pay a consultant, the Daily News has learned.
The list of departures, sources said, includes a veteran homicide prosecutor who recently bolted mid-trial and district attorneys seen as close to former DA Charles Hynes whose legacy is getting more tarnished by the day.
A scathing report by the citys Department of Investigation alleges that Hynes paid for political advice with forfeiture funds seized from criminals and improperly had senior assistants work on his failed reelection campaign last year.
While two of the departures came from the money laundering bureau including its chief Joseph McCarthy sources insisted the moves are not connected to the DOI report or to an ongoing probe believed to be handled by the state Attorney General.
