ALBANYZephyr Teachout says it will be at least another week before she decides whether to mount a left-flank challenge to Governor Andrew Cuomo.
My decision is based on whether I can put together the resources to mount a credible challenge and to get on the ballot, Teachout, a Fordham law professor, said Friday during a trip to Albany.
Teachout said she is not ready to rule out an effort to create a new partywhich, if successful, would assure her a spot on the November ballotbut is focusing her efforts on petitioning her way into a Democratic primary against Cuomo. (Either would require the valid signatures of 15,000 registered voters from around the state, though a primary petition would require signatories to be enrolled Democrats.)

(14,498 posts)Might even pony up some $$$.
No point in going third party, though. Greens are nominating Howie Hawkins and teacher/labor activist Brian Jones, for Gov/Lt Gov.
There will be no need for real -deal DEMS and other progressives to sit out the election and certainly no reason to vote for Status Cuomo.

(14,498 posts)... is what he'll do.
Judging by past experience.
But he's enough of a politician to create some kind of complicated "compromise" that kind of *appears* to be environmentally responsible.
Maybe only a few hundred thousand people will get poisoned instead of a couple million.
